Style 15 / Woodland

 It's been way way too long since Myriah and I had some fun with a style shoot, so I had to get my tail in gear and think up some ideas for another series.  This has to be one of my favorites for a few reasons...  because when I first moved here, these woods were one of the places I accidentally came across and haven't been able to shake since; because the mix of gold, cream, and red looked gorgeous with the lush green and rugged earth; because I grew up with the woods behind my house and it's always brought me a sense of peace....

Add this to my list of happy places...

Elizabeth Messina

Just admiring Elizabeth Messina's stunning photography.  I mean... can you get over how beautiful?

I tore this out of a magazine a while back and tacked it on my bulletin board because I loved the dress and the car;  and then this beauty...

And do you know what?  I'm doing a photoshoot with her next week in my home!  So I've been going through my wardrobe looking for just the right pieces; like kimonos, robes, and dresses; and I'm feeling kind of giddy.
Can't wait:)

History of The Wrap Dress

Yesterday, a friend and I hopped in the car and took a trip down to LA to see the Diane Von Fürstenberg exhibit commemorating the 40th anniversary of her wrap dress design.  The room was filled with a clustering of colors and bold patterns (another room filled with paintings and photographs of the designer herself- like the detail of the painting above).  The dress in the middle,below, was one of my favorites...

Style 13 / Pops of Color

This is my kind of Style shoot.  I got to relax on my bed and read the answers that friends left in the Proust Questionnaire book over the past several years.  I choose this book for the pop of pink, but the deal was sweetened when I got to peek through the pages I haven't seen + read in forever.  And, of course, Myriah nailed the photo from high above.  She's a champ to collaborate with me and my silly ideas.  But we have fun...

See?  I wear color.  But black isn't too shabby either, so it still stays.

Red Valentino

My gosh, am I flipping out over the RED Valentino Spring 2014 collection.  The backdrops are the perfect touch, don't you think?

This sort of styling gets my brain going (filing under, "Why the heck couldn't I have thought of this?" Ah well, next time...)

Style 1

Alrighty, folks... welcome to the first in the new Style series here on Wish List.   I had a blast taking these with the wonderful Myriah Bujak.  I'm not a real big fan of being in front of the camera, but her focus and great attitude put me right at ease, from start to finish. 

If you have any ideas for future shoots, feel free to share in the comments below (I've opened them back up and am hopeful they're running smoothly this time around.)

Favorite posts from 2012...

I had great fun with this blog over the past year and hope you've enjoyed it, too.  Having learned ways to evolve Wish List into a reader friendly place to hang while also staying true to my aesthetic has been a somewhat tricky process (I sometimes veer off the beaten path).  But I feel I've achieved a happy and inspiring space here both for my own personal creative endeavors and, fingers crossed, for all of you, as well.  And if this blog's analytics read true, its appeal is spreading; and for that I am so very very thankful.
