Anthropologie Crystal Lamps
Something Nice...
I'm a fan of the lifestyle blog A Beautiful Mess because of its vibrancy and upbeat approach to a creative life and design. And their new site layout doesn't disappoint. You can spend hours exploring and still need time for more. And I got a rush of YAY! when I saw my name under their At Home With... feature, because for a second I forgot I was a tiny part of their blog in this way. I feel honored to have a space among so many inspiring homes and so much creative energy. Keep up the beauty, A Beautiful Mess. It makes me feel very happy...

Into the Weekend
I've got the flu. But I'm pretty sure three quarters of the world around me also has the flu, or some variation of it, so this is not exciting news by any stretch. I've been camping out in bed. I've been trying to fool myself into thinking I'm better. I make my way out into the world. I relapse. I camp out in bed. I wander around my tiny home, hot tea with honey in hand, standing in front of open windows letting the fresh breeze pull any yuck from my body and out into the air to dissipate. I want to start fresh but my mind and body have felt immobilized (my big word lately) so I wait.
And then it came... a download of fresh ideas and clarity. Do you know what this means? It means I'm no longer feeling immobilized and, I can't express this enough, it's a good feeling. Really really good. It also means that the launch of my next lines will be pushed back but I'm fine with that and I hope when they're out in the world you'll love them as much as I do in this moment.
In the meantime, I'll be working out the kinks and living life the way it was intended... inside now with an openness to the unfolding of what's to come. Trusting has historically not been my strongest virtue but now's as good a time as any to begin doing just that. For now, for you...

Into the Weekend
See this photo? It's one of my favorites from my photoshoot with Elizabeth Messina ( here + here, too!). It felt luxurious and I felt drenched in peace; plus that kimono! And anyhow, it's a nice reminder for me to rest; because freak knows I need these reminders, and often. And another thing, too... I need to let myself really experience these moments of creativity and joy without hiding how good it makes me feel (am I alone with this? I hope not!). I think they lead to nice things in life.
Which brings me to the next thing... I'll be taking a break from all social media until at least next Wednesday, maybe Friday; I really don't know. But I'm giving myself time away after tonight. I can't seem to shake my want for travel. It's come back more recently with some kind of wild pull and I want to start thinking more and more about it... for someday. This beautiful capture of the Amalfi Coast is calling my name. Sigh. Someday someday someday...

Donut Truck!
I dream about throwing parties, weddings, pop-up shops, birthdays, whathaveyou. I think about ideas all the flipping time and am just now starting to make this happen. Baby steps, but still...
And how about this donut truck for something completely different? I'm guessing this will replace the cupcake trend. I'm all for it!

Into the Weekend
Ah, what a week. What a week! I've been off blog duty mainly because I've let myself get bombarded with way too many projects all at once. I'm not sure how I've managed to keep my brain functioning without it short circuiting from going back and forth and in between multiple things that have little in common except for being a hodgepodge of creativity and design. But still... I'm needing a breather, so I'm taking the rest of this day and night off.
Next week, I'll be sharing a whole bunch of stuff that's been going on behind the scenes and more cool things I've come across, here and there. In the meantime, some fun links for you...

It's Independence Day weekend over here in the US and people are gettin' down with mass amounts of fireworks, beer, and hotdogs. I'll partake in the first two (vegetarian, y'all!) and then I'm going to make some tea and read this book.

Into the Weekend
I had a great great week (my boudoir photoshoot with Elizabeth Messina would be the the highlight... oh my god! I'll be sure to share photos from that when they're ready...) but now I'm spent. Last night I met up with a couple lovely friends and we kicked some butt in a self-defense class. Then I planned on ending the night by seeing my friends' band play, but feeling like I needed to take a nap on my way there told me I should probably head home and relax. So I made a bowl of pasta, nestled into my couch, and watched netflix until I fell asleep with a cookie in my hand... like a three year old. Perfect.
I'm about to take Mars the Dog out for his afternoon stroll on this beautiful Summer day and will have my neighbors over tonight for some beer and wine. Should be fun.

Into the weekend
This weekend is the big huge city-wide Summer Solstice party here in Santa Barbara. This town loves its Solstice. There's a wild parade that packs the streets and downtown parks and everyone is pretty much really drunk or really sun-stroked (or both). When I first moved here, I'd gather with my out-of-town friends for a day of festivities that lasted long into Sunday and I loved it. Now that most of them have moved further away, I've been adopted into other groups of local friends and jump from group to group throughout the day... tonight I'll go to a house-party and get to hang with a bestie. I'm learning to drop just a little bit of work for more free time these days and I'm living it up. Thank goodness...
