Sweet
I can appreciate the atmospheric quality of Emily Winfield Martin's illustrations. She has a great shop ( you may recognize her as The Black Apple )... might want to hop over there and peruse for a while. Solid sweetness.

Holiday Gift Wrapping!
Sometimes I dream about wrapping gifts for a living. Or not even for a living... just wrapping gifts for the fun of it, all the time. (But how cool would it be to make a living off it? I want that.)
Anyhow, it's gettin' to that time when I buy gifts for the sole purpose of getting to decorate them all pretty-like, like these...

Into the Weekend
This weekend I'm finally gonna get around to adding some pretty festive touches around my home. I like to keep it simple... splays of greenery, pops of luminous color, reflecting light. Anything that will make me want to plop down on my sofa and daydream; that's the goal.
When I was growing up, my brother Stephen and I used to hang out in the living room by the glowing tree, make up funny stories, play music, read books, and stare off into the sparkling lights feeling calm and thankful and excited for the warmth inside while the snow fell outside. I do miss New England Christmases. But I'll be sipping hot cocoa, popping on some records, and filling this little home with a little more nostalgia.
I'm also heading out for a dinner party tonight with talented and sweet friends and after having a most uplifting night with more artistically inspiring and insanely hilarious friends last night, I feel full of all good things.
So how about some neat links gathered this week from around the web? Just for you...
This vintage style wireless speaker is so cool.
Oh my goodness, what gorgeous photos from this San Francisco wedding.
15 rare historical photos
Martha Stewart's prop room. (wow, overwhelming.)
Glass extension added to a London home...surprisingly beautiful.
Emily Henderson's living room tour. Man does this woman know how to style space.
And then there's this bit of truth.
Enjoy a lovely weekend, friends.
Love,
Cath

Dream Home / 4
Contrary to what some might assume, given my propensity for wearing black, I do not typically decorate the home with much black (or red, for that matter). But maybe it's the Wintery feeling that's making me kind of love these black home accents...
What do you think?

Things That Make Me Happy / 2
The joy, the sweetness, the levity of spirit...
(and can you even handle that little outfit?!)
p.s. I've had to close down the comments because, for whatever reason, some of yours just aren't being published- even if I open it up to the option that makes it easier for spammers. Such a bummer. BUT... you can still share via the social media icons, contact me on email, and follow me over on Instagram. Good? Hugs all around, friends!

This is Cool / Print Pictures From Your Phone
I don't think I've ever done a post on anything tech related but, man, I want this so bad. I miss photo albums and I want to start doing them again. I'd love to be able to look back on this time in my life, years from now, and feel much of it all over again. It's been a trip. So this will be my next project. I'm kind of excited about it.
Do any of you keep photo albums anymore? I'd love ideas!
p.s. I've also used Artifact Uprising for the photographs from my Elizabeth Messina shoot and would use them for their Instagram friendly albums (they're beautifully done, by the way).

Make / 43 Gold Leaf Planters
I've gone a little nutty with gold these days. I'll straight up admit to it. For most of my life, it was silver silver silver. But then... BAM. Gold. It's glowy and luminous and a lot like sunshine. Though I'm not a supporter of mining (the gold in my shop is vintage or antique sourced). So instead, I like to play around with achieving the color itself. Which is why I'm enjoying this gold leaf planter DIY (via the house that lars built). Click on over to see more examples of the possibilities. Lovely.

Little pops of unexpected use of color...
I think this nursery is adorable (but, living in California, I'd skip the big heavy chandelier hanging over the crib!)
... And oh to have citrus plants inside the home. Incredibly uplifting.

Make 42 / Leather Folders
Aren't these leather folders cool? I'm the kind of girl who needs to be organized. But what happens is I get all amped up and excited to buy new office supplies to complete this task; then I jazz everything up; and then I ultimately just end up keeping everything on post-it notes all over my desk, in a couple journals running simultaneously, and the rest of the information is stuck in my brain. I need a more committed filing system and I think something like this will encourage me further with it (I'd use faux leather.). If not, I'll at least have a prettier place for my zillions of receipts for year-end tax organization. Baby steps.
Do you consider yourself an organized person? I need your tips and suggestions, please!

Back in the day, I was a huge fan of paying very very close attention to the phases of the moon. It went right along with my penchant for candles, incense, crystals, clunky shoes, atmospheric music with lyrics I never understood, wearing lots of purple and even more black than I do today. I also had an unprecedented amount of moon jewelry. So when I saw this cool moon phases wall hanging via free people, I felt incredibly nostalgic.
(Autumn and Winter play to the 1990's goth in me. Sigh.)

Dream Home / 1
I'll be kicking in a few new blog features over the next month, one of which is Dream Home. Gathering the prettiest to create my ultimate dream home. I like a home that's peaceful, light, airy, welcoming, colorful (popping against white walls), with nuggets of eye-candy, cozy coupled with spaces for entertaining, defined with a work studio/ office, uplifting, upbeat, restful, comfortable, a refuge. So here to begin, some ideas for creating a lovely home...
... and this pool lounging space, just- you know- because.
What kinds of spaces do you love?
