Into the weekend...

This weekend you'll find me gift wrapping birthday gifts, devising new ideas, phoning a couple of my favorite people who live too far away, and taking a walk in pure solitude.

Have a lovely one, friends.
Cath
P.S. For dog lovers -> THIS made me laugh out loud.

Thoughts on Home.

Our home is filled with a hodgepodge of art and knick knacks either made by us or given to us from friends + family.  We rarely buy anything new.  But, once in a while, I like to mix things up and now I'm daydreaming about painting all the walls in the house a perfect white or maybe ivory to give it all a whole new look.  I figure it'll make all the colors pop.   I like these examples...

But, then again... colored walls are pretty cool...

A secret tip.

When life gets tricky.  When doubt sets in.  When all you can do is wonder about the outcome of a total unknown, choose this...

It'll remind you of your great beauty + set you back on track.

So hungry.

I'm kind of a creature of habit + routine when it comes to food.  I am pretty content as long as bread, cheese, and a good drink are involved.  The lovely colors don't hurt, either...

Into the weekend

This weekend, I'll be seeing + visiting with a few of my favorite people and hopefully hitting the beer garden at our local earth day fest. I'll also be doing a crap load of organizing around the house + studio... this makes me oddly excited.  But, in the meantime, my thoughts will drift back to the images above (the Paul Newman + Joanne Woodward one makes my heart flip) and THIS QUOTE that I can't get out of my head.  I've been told that I am in love with being in love.
I suppose that is very true.

Enjoy a weekend wide open with possibilities.
Love,
Cath

Color!

Why the pink with me lately?  I'm not real sure.  Probably just making up for lost time.

Oh my.

I have an article from WSJ Magazine (now about a year old) that I tore out + saved, neatly taped in one of my journals.  I go back to it often because it listed out the Paris based ateliers used by Chanel.  These workshops house, likely, the most incredible materials to construct + create:  metal adornments, flowers, feathers, shoes, buttons, and millinery.  I flipped out.  Then I went into dreamland and pretended that these were my home ateliers.  Such a rush.
Here's a peek ...

Neat, huh?

Five Things of Beauty

Sometimes I find that I've just stared off at a random detail of beauty, something usually gone unnoticed or ignored, and I come-to like I just snapped out of a trance or a mini-seizure.  They could be mini-seizures, but still; totally worth it.  Here are five things of great beauty that I've recently come across and that I just can't stop looking at....

Oh, Monday...

Today is the most gorgeous sunny day.  I can hardly contain my love for it.  It also marks mine and Sebastian's seven year anniversary, so we are heading out for a yummy lunch at our favorite Italian restaurant in town.  I look forward to the bread + olive oil, but then will dig into an incredible ravioli dish that I actually have dreams of, often.  Today, I am thankful for this and so many many other things..

Into the weekend...

Last night we had a thunderstorm.  Those don't come around here too often.  And all I could think, as I stared into the the night from my cozy bed, was that I couldn't wait for the morning so I could see how green and alive the world looks after such a much needed rain.  Rainy days are pretty incredible... especially if they don't appear frequently.  They make me want to get lots of things done.  I also don't feel guilty if I take time to sip tea and watch from the window as the rushes of nature do their thing .  Right now, the rain has momentarily ceased and I hear birds tweeting as they do.  I never ever become desensitized to this sort of beauty.  And never take it for granted.
This weekend, I'll first be processing batch orders (my favorite part is gift wrapping them) and then I've got a little painting I want to start on and then I'll be visiting with a friend.
Perfect.
Have a magical one, friends.
Love,
Cath

A studio peek...

My home studio stores most all of the stuff necessary to make my company run smoothly.  It's not a huge space, but it's a great space.  And with just enough materials held in pretty boxes + mason jars, they inspire my immediate surrounding atmosphere.  I thought I'd share a few images from this space that nudges me wildly to design + create each day and night.  (The first photo is taken from an idea board next to my work desk.)

Journals are sprawled all over the place.  They hold any sketches, colors, paintings, thoughts, random + motivating quotes, and photos collected along my daily travels.  I feel naked without one next to me.

There are ribbons and buttons coming out the kazoo.  These are just some that I stock on the shelves around me to work on prototypes and other ideas.   The walls are covered with art and photos... Up toward the top of this image is a sweet little framed photograph of my mother when she was young.  My father told me it was taken on the day they got engaged.  I love it so much.

That's it for now.  Will likely take some more shots sometime soon...

Today I dream...

                                    ... while hanging out here...

                             ... and listening to this...

Into the week...

I believe this to be true.  It's a good little reminder for the humans.

New Designs*

Welcome to the second installment of the Spring/Summer collection.  I had a peaceful and really fun time making these and had an even nicer time photographing the models, sisters Cody + Erin Kiniry.  They are wonderful...

To see even more of the new collection, feel free to stop by the SHOP HERE.

Next up is a weekend filled with as much laziness and bicycle strolling as I can manage.  And then a drink with a friend...
Enjoy a beautiful one, friends.
Love,
Cath

Extraordinarily Beautiful.

This sort of primitive art form is why I continue to be inspired.  Don't ever underestimate the power of simplicity as a means for innovation.  This process is spellbinding.

Behind the scenes*

Want to see some photos from our photoshoot yesterday?
This one (and the one below) was taken by Myriah (I like how she made me look taller in this shot.)
I love my dog.

Tons more photos on the facebook page HERE and the Flickr page HERE.
Good times.

Yep.

It's true.  I am.  Though I probably need to get through the exhaustion from yesterday's photoshoot first.  This time around I was the photographer.  I thought I'd try my hand at it since there was just a half collection to shoot, but holy god, it's HARD to get a solid photo (...do I respect a good photographer.)  My whole body aches (I have no idea why... was I crazily contorting my body?  Was it because I was maneuvering the equipment?  Am I just completely out of shape?  So weird.)
Either way, I'm excited to look through the images captured and get them ready for the shop site hopefully by the weekend.  Will keep you posted.

For now, everywhere I look there's something new and big I want to do and explore... exciting.

Full Bloom.

I get that Spring officially began a couple weeks ago, but it's April that really brings it home for me.  I love this month.  There's not a single thing about April that I don't like (I even like filing my taxes).  The sunshine is out, the flowers are blooming, and I just want to hug every single part of it all the time.  Oh Springtime, you sweet thing, you.
