I've recently stumbled across a pretty neat amount of web exposure for my jewerly and hair adornments. Some of the sites are below or to the right ~ others I have yet to figure out how to link them here. But when I do, I'll add them on!

Aside from nearly twenty Front Pagers on Etsy (♥I never tire of seeing one of my very own goodies on Etsy's homepage♥), I've discovered features on Indie Parade, Indie Spotting, My Shopping Connection, Blue and White Wear (post excerpt is below) and the ever awesome Found-Handmade. Cross promotion is my new best friend.

Here's the "Blue and White Wear" mention (a set of now sold sterling and crystal bangles were pictured and a shout out to my Etsy shop is in #8 below):

The Magic 8
I recently read an interesting article on "Jewelry Rules" by Danielle Fox in which she explains what jewelry to wear with particular styles of clothing. Also included is a list called "The Magic 8" - 8 items that everyone should have in her jewelry box. So I searched through Etsy to find some great pieces to fit this list:

LaLa Feather Bangle
Ciara Obscura's LaLa Feather Bangle is a sassy and dramatic accessory "for the most experienced boudoir junky," as designer Catherine Masi says.
The feather bangle is accented with handmade berry-colored silk buttons and can be worn high or low on your arm, depending on your personal tastes. The feathers reach upwards of 6" long and 3.5" wide, so this piece is ideal for when your outfit really needs that a bold, fashionable flourish.
$48 from Ciara Obscura

My month long blogging break can be explained, in part, by the images above. Also- I'm lazy when it comes to doing this bit of writing on a more consistent basis.... but I'll resist digressing into that realm of storytelling.

So the items above are a couple of pieces from my Spring/Summer 2009 collection (go see more: http://www.ciaraobscura.com/) and I don't think I can fully express the amount of joy I am getting out of making these. I was lucky enough to meet up with Stephanie Bodin of Bocage and her husband, Tucker, who own the most killer dynamic recording studio (Playback Records) here in Santa Barbara. It was a serendipitous meeting with two wonderful and unbelievably talented artists. Anyhow, THIS is how I came to my new fantasy materials haven in Stephanie's Bocage showroom. A couple of weeks before I met her, I was designing the Spring/Summer collection with these revolving themes... Bewitching Allure, Vintage Dreamland, Twilight Shadows, Modern Romanticism, Edgy, Shimmery, Mysterious....

The moment I stepped into the showroom, I knew where I was getting a good chunk of my materials to craft these designs. Oh my god, freaking heaven.

So~ many more late late nights watching these designs evolve. And happy mornings logging into my email to see orders from Australia, France, England, Canada, Malaysia (that's one from today) and throughout the US. And I wonder... how the hell did people sustain their businesses prior to the internet without spending crazy money on marketing tools to reach around the globe? This is a good time for artists, my friends... a very good time.
